Pastoral Statement on Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical Magnifica Humanitas

United Catholic Youth Ministries welcomes the publication of Magnifica Humanitas, the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV. In this timely and prophetic document, the Holy Father invites the Church and all people of goodwill to reflect deeply on the dignity of the human person in an age marked by rapid technological change and the growing influence of artificial intelligence.

Rooted in the rich tradition of Catholic Social Teaching and inspired by the enduring witness of Rerum Novarum, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that every human person is created in the image and likeness of God and possesses an inherent dignity that can never be reduced to data, productivity, or technological efficiency. He challenges us to ensure that innovation remains at the service of humanity rather than humanity becoming subject to the interests of technology, profit, or power.

We affirm the Holy Father's call to safeguard truth, promote justice, protect the dignity of work, defend the vulnerable, and foster a culture of encounter in a world increasingly shaped by digital realities.
