​About Leadership Academy

Our UCYM Leadership Academy (LA) is our main program for youth and offers formation, training, and community for any youth and their accompanying adult youth ministers that wants to pursue learning and practicing pastoral leadership in their faith community and deepen their faith life through the four pillars of ministry: service, worship, faith formation, and community.

LA has six programs:

• Leader-in-Training: 7th and 8th Grade Cohorts
• Discipleship Learning: 9th and 10th Grade Cohorts
• Peer Ministry: 11th and 12th Grade Cohorts

• Saints-in-Training: 6th-12th Grade Service Immersion

• Summer Youth Internships: 9th-12th Grade
• Youth Minister Formation: training and accompaniment for youth ministers

Retreats
Our youth are offered a variety of retreat options for the program year. Each retreat is different and offers youth a chance to grow in their relationship with themselves, their community, and God.

​Program Completion Goals

Each LA program has goals for each youth participant to complete that the team has discerned as being the minimum goals for being considered to have completed the program successfully. We acknowledge that the lives of youth are very busy today, so there is some flexibility at the discretion of the team. Youth are able to put this program on their resume and ask any of their program leaders or staff for a reference for a college or job application. ​
